Ousama M. Rasheed received his Juris Doctorate in 1990 from the University of New Mexico School of Law and his Bachelors degree at the University of New Mexico. Mr. Rasheed is a member of the New Mexico State Bar, the New Mexico Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, the New Mexico Trial Lawyers Foundation, the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. Mr. Rasheed has also been a member of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America and is a past president of the Criminal Section of the New Mexico State Bar. He is also a member of the New Mexico chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union.
Honors
On June 11, 2010, Mr. Rasheed received prestigious "Charles Driscoll Memorial Award" by the New Mexico Criminal Defense Lawyers Association. NMCDLA's Charles Driscoll Award is given annually to a person who has fought for not only his or her own clients, but also made an important contribution to better the criminal defense profession in New Mexico.
Mr. Rasheed is the President Elect of the New Mexico Criminal Defense Lawyers Association and has served on its board of directors for several years. Recently, Mr. Rasheed was appointed by Governor Bill Richardson and the New Mexico Senate to serve on the New Mexico Department of Transportation Senate Memorial Task Force on Ignition Interlocks. In 2005, Mr. Rasheed was honored as by the American Civil Liberties Union “ACLU” as a Cooperating Attorney of the Year for his work in successfully challenging the City of Albuquerque’s attempt to seize and forfeit the vehicles of first time DWI offenders.

In addition to testifying annually before the New Mexico Legislature and its subcommittees regarding DWI and criminal law matters, Mr. Rasheed has been a featured speaker at the following Continuing Legal Education seminars:

Jed began work at the law office of Ousama M. Rasheed, Esq. in the summer of 1997 as a runner and has worked his way up at the firm since then as a legal assistant, paralegal, law clerk, and office manager. Upon graduating law school and passing the bar in 2009, Jed became the firm’s first associate attorney.
Jed is a member of the American Bar Association, the New Mexico Trial Lawyers Foundation, the New Mexico State Bar Criminal Section, and the New Mexico Criminal Defense Lawyers Association.
Jed got off to a fast start, appearing in court the same day he was sworn-in as an attorney, standing between multiple FBI agents and a client on his third day as a lawyer, and lecturing in January, 2010 to members of the New Mexico Criminal Defense Lawyers Association regarding managing the perils of a law firm’s calendar and scheduling.
